Regardless of your destination, it’s always a good idea to be attentive when boarding, particularly the speedboats. Some travelers have noted the need for extra care during this process.

I took the ferry from Klong Jilad Pier to Koh Phi Phi in 2023. The journey took around 90 minutes, and the views of the striking limestone cliffs rising from the turquoise waters were spectacular. The ferry staff were friendly and helpful, providing snacks and drinks on board.

Andaman Taxis offers both minivans and normal cars.

  • Taxi: 450-600 THB fare, 25-30 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis can be booked before arrival.
  • Shuttle bus: Bookable shared transfers for 150-180 THB per person. Look for Krabi airport shuttle signs at arrivals.

  • Shared taxi: Cheapest option at 100-150 THB per person. Flag down passing shared taxis.

I tried both the airport taxi and shared shuttle bus to get to Klong Jilad Pier. The shuttle was cheaper and still comfortable.

Transportation from Klong Jilad Pier to Krabi Town is only a few kilometers depending where in the city you are going:

  • Taxi: Taxi drivers at the pier offer rides directly to Krabi Town and it is also possible to book online costing around 350 THB.

Nearby Attractions

While in Krabi Town (Klong Jilard Pier), don’t miss:

Krabi Town actually has quite a lot to offer even if you just use it as a base for exploring the stunning scenery of Krabi Province. The town may not have the nightlife and bustling feel that many Thai towns do, but it does show a more authentic side to Thai life.

Krabi Night Market

Vibrant street market perfect for souvenir shopping, people watching, and tasting authentic Thai street food. Opens daily in the evening. Just 4 km from the pier.

Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple)

Buddhist temple 12 km away featuring shrines, pagodas, and stunning views from the hilltop after climbing 1237 steps. One of Krabi’s top attractions.

Railay Beach Krabi

Railay Beach

Railay Beach is also just a short boat ride away from Krabi Town. Go to nearby Ao Nam Mao pier and get a longtail boat for 200 THB. At Railay Beach visitors can discover opportunities for snorkeling and rock climbing. The limestone cliffs in Railay Beach offer some of the most breathtaking views found anywhere in Thailand, and they make a great backdrop for photos!

Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang is a stunning beach paradis. It is a 30 minutes ride away from Klong Jilard Pier. Options are Songthaew, taxi or minibus. This picturesque area is known for its powder-soft sand, crystal clear waters, and limestone cliffs that seem to rise from the sea. It’s the perfect place to spend a day enjoying the sun and admiring the beautiful views. Visitors can also explore the surrounding islands, shop in the local markets, or simply relax in one of the many beachside bars.

Of these, Railay Beach was my favorite for its picturesque landscape and serene vibes. But the Krabi Night Market was a close second for the street food, unique shopping finds and feel of local culture.

In summary, Klong Jilad Pier serves as a good pier if you start from Krabi Town or Krabi Airport. With a convenient location, modern facilities, and efficient ferry connections, it offers a smooth gateway to the region’s natural attractions.
